Why Korean Students Say "He" When They Mean "She"
- Do the pronoun-first drill (say he/she before the sentence) every single class for two weeks — this is a habit problem, not a one-lesson fix.
- Use real photos of family/friends brought from home if possible; students track gender better with people they know than with textbook clip art.
- Watch for the "default he" pattern specifically — it's more common than random switching and worth naming for the student directly.
- Don't over-correct mid-story; let them finish, then run the retell drill again immediately after.
