Whiteboard Survivor: the elimination game that runs on mistakes and fits any grammar point

  • Start with six writers if the class is 12+, all eight if the class is smaller. Voters need to outnumber writers or the game loses tension.
  • Let students argue in Korean when they challenge a vote. The grammar explanation can happen in English after they've agreed what's wrong.
  • Keep a tally of the most common mistake. Drill that one explicitly the next day.
  • If you're short on time, play one fast round with four writers instead of running to a single winner.
  • This works best when they've seen the grammar once already but haven't mastered it. Too early and they guess; too late and no one makes mistakes.
