Sentence Auction: the whiteboard game that makes grammar mistakes worth actual money
- Write sentences before class; ten fits a standard 40–50 minute period without the bidding running long.
- Keep teams small: three or four students per team works best given typical hagwon class sizes.
- Include at least two sentences that look wrong but are grammatically correct; this is where most of the real discussion happens.
- If you write a sentence wrong by mistake, admit it and pull it rather than defending it.
- The ratio of correct to broken sentences isn't fixed. Adjust based on how confident the group is.
