Sentence Auction: the whiteboard game that makes grammar mistakes worth actual money
- Write sentences before class. Winging it mid-game always produces at least one accidental mistake you'll have to walk back.
- Let wrong bids stand. If they buy "He don't like it" for ₩5,000, that loss teaches more than you correcting it beforehand would have.
- End with a reveal, not a lecture. Go through the sentences, say which were correct, tally the wins. If they want to argue one, give it a minute, but don't turn this into grammar explanation time—they've just done the noticing work themselves.
- Play money or tally marks both work. Tearing up paper into ₩1,000 notes feels more real, but keeping score on their desks is faster. Your call.
- Run it every four weeks, not every week. Overuse kills it. This works because it's a break from the usual drill, not because it's a better drill.
