Teacher notes · Discussion & Debate
Screen time limits for teenagers: a discussion lesson that Korean high schoolers will actually argue about
- Timing is tight. If the warm-up runs over 5 minutes, you lose the vote at the end. Set a visible timer for the prep phase.
- Do not pre-teach vocabulary. "Precedent," "overreach," and "enforce" will come up naturally. Let students ask or explain to each other.
- If they agree too much, play devil's advocate for the weaker side. "Nobody on CON mentioned privacy yet — does the government have the right to track your app usage?"
- The vote is not the lesson. The value is in hearing their classmates argue points they had not considered. Even if the final count is lopsided, students who engaged learned something.
