No-kids zones are everywhere in Korea, and your middle schoolers have opinions
- Run the vote anonymously (slips of paper, or thumbs down on desk); public voting makes younger students copy their friends.
- If the class leans heavily one way early, assign the weaker side to the stronger arguers on purpose so the debate stays even.
- Expect at least one student with a real story about being refused entry. Let it surface; it's the best material in the room.
- Follow-up writing task: "Write a sign for a café. Explain your rule and why." Works well as homework.
- Skip the vocabulary step for higher levels and go straight to the pair brainstorm; it eats less time than you'd think.
