Moving From E-2 to F-2-7 or F-6 Doesn't Carry Your Old Paperwork With It
- Call your immigration office before assuming any E-2 document (diploma, criminal check) transfers to an F-series application — ask specifically what they need re-submitted.
- Start the status change process two months before your E-2 expires, not two weeks.
- For F-2-7, pull your 소득금액증명원 from the tax office (Hometax or in person) — E-2 applicants never needed this.
- If applying from inside Korea, ask whether a Korean-issued criminal background check replaces your home-country one; it often does for status changes.
- Confirm in writing whether you can keep working while the application is pending — don't assume.
