Teacher notes — Grammar for Korean Speakers

Make, Let, and Have: The Causative Verb Korean Speakers Mix Up

  • Draw the force → permission → arrangement scale on the board before showing any English verbs; students need the sorting step made visible first.
  • Expect "make" to appear correctly maybe 60% of the time and wrong the rest — that ratio alone is a useful check for whether the concept has landed.
  • "Get + to" is the hardest one for even advanced students; don't drill it until make/let/have are solid.
  • Pull real sentences from student writing for the correction drill. Generic textbook examples don't land the same way.
