Teacher notes — Discussion & Debate
Korea Scrapped "Killer Questions" From the Suneung, and Your Students Are Split
- Assign debate sides randomly, not by real opinion — students argue harder and more fairly this way.
- Some students may bring up exam stress or mental health; acknowledge it briefly but steer back to the policy debate rather than letting it become a heavy topic.
- If your class is lower-intermediate, cut question 3 (the compensation nuance) — it's the hardest to argue in English.
- Time the rebuttal round strictly with a visible timer; this is what keeps quieter students from getting talked over.
- Good for 45–50 minutes total with the extension; drop the extension if you're short on time.
