"I am eating dinner now" and "I eat dinner now": teaching continuous tenses when Korean has no equivalent
- Run the NOW/EVERY DAY table as pair work first, then check answers as a class. Students will copy each other's "every day" sentences if you do not give them 90 seconds of silent writing time first.
- The refusal drill works better if you model it with real annoyance in your voice. Flat delivery makes it sound like substitution work.
- Error correction: have students translate both the wrong and right versions into Korean. When they see Korean uses the same form for both, the English distinction becomes visible. Do this after they've drilled the patterns, not before.
- If a student writes "I am eating dinner every day," they are translating the Korean habitual structure 매일 먹어요 word-for-word. Go back to the NOW/EVERY DAY contrast with a different verb set.
