Doodle Dash: the whiteboard drawing race where kids guess a word from a single mini-sketch
- Prep is zero. Write your word list on a sticky note or keep it on your phone, out of the drawers' sight.
- The "other team scores" rule is the whole engine of this game. Do not skip it, even if the room asks to change it.
- Set a strict two-minute cap per word. If nobody has guessed after six or seven strokes, just reveal it and move on.
- Draw simple, not pretty. Stick figures and boxes work better than detailed art because they force students to guess from shape and context, not technique.
- For a stronger class, drop single words and make the target a short phrase ("wash the dishes," "miss the bus"). The drawer gets no strokes limit, just a 60 second timer, and guessers have to say the full phrase back, not just one word, to score.
