Deepfake revenge porn laws: a discussion lesson for Korean high schoolers who've already seen the headlines
- Do not show photos or name the Telegram case. The students know. Bringing receipts makes it a current events lesson, not a language lesson, and kills the English.
- Seat the loud students apart. They will try to dominate in Korean. Splitting them forces English.
- If a group finishes the prep sheet in five minutes, add this: "Now write one counter-argument to your strongest point." Keeps them working in English instead of scrolling phones.
- The anonymous reflection is mandatory. Even the silent students will write. You will learn who understood and who was lost. Read them after class, not during.
- Expect one student to argue that the victim should not have "put themselves online" or similar. Do not scold. Ask the class: "Does being in a photo online mean you consent to that photo being altered?" Let the room handle it.
