Board Race, and the three fixes that stop the chaos
Board Race, tightened
Before class: nothing. Before the round: draw two columns on the board with one numbered row per student, per team.
Rules to say out loud, in this order:
- One marker per team. You may not leave your seat until the marker is in your hand.
- Write in your own row only.
- Every filled row is a point. Eight filled rows beat six good ones.
Run one practice round with an easy prompt before scoring anything.
Watch for: students hovering at the board waiting for the marker. Send them back once and the rule holds for the rest of the lesson.
Do not run it twice in a week.
