Teacher notes — Discussion & Debate
Are Class Group Chats Helpful or Too Much?
- Expect a loud, uneven split in the four corners activity, don't force consensus, the disagreement is the lesson.
- Some students may bring up being muted, ignored, or left out of a chat. Keep it general ("some people feel left out") rather than naming classmates.
- If a few students say their class has no chat at all, have them imagine one instead, the frames still work.
- Keep the vote at the end quick and low-stakes, it's a wrap-up, not a real classroom decision.
- For a stronger class: add a third column to the table called "A rule that would fix it" and have pairs write one rule per row before the vote.
