GangBuk, Seoul
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gangbuk-gu
Our school opened its door October 2001 to teach Korean students the British Columbia Elementary School curriculum, using British Columbia Ministry approved textbooks and resources and with Canadian teachers certified by the Canadian Ministry of Education.
Greeting from District Principal
Our school has been open for eight years and the students and staff have found great success in the new programs at the school. The faculty, both Korean and Canadian, have worked together to create an outstanding learning environment for Korean students.
In 2000, the West Vancouver School District assisted with the establishment our school in South Korea. Our establishment was the outcome of the growing need for programs based on a global curriculum. Our vision became a reality in 2001, when we opened doors to students in kindergarten through 6th grade in Kangnam, Seoul.
Using a Canadian based curriculum with Canadian certified teachers, Mr. Kim and the outstanding staff at the school are to be commended for working tirelessly to see this dream become the reality it is today. We have many wonderful teachers from Canada who are certified as Professional Teachers. Many teachers and staff have worked hard to provide the best educational program for young children in Korea.
We are proud of the strong educational programs. We offer not only language programs but also British Columbia curriculum areas such as Mathematics, Sciences, Social Studies, Music, and Art. The program uses many British Columbia school system textbooks and other learning resources. New courses have been added to the curriculum in order to continue the goal of providing a high quality education to students.
The teachers and staff have developed a very successful Korean Immersion Program in West Vancouver that began in 2003. Teachers in West Vancouver have been impressed our students because they are able to participate in classroom discussions and can communicate with their Canadian classmates quite well. This demonstrates that the programs have given students a wonderful preparation for the British Columbia school system
At this time, West Vancouver School District and our school are working toward the development of a new School in China that will deliver the same high quality education programs to the students in China. The project has been approved by the British Columbia Ministry of Education and will eventually offer a British Columbia High School Graduation program for Chinese students.
Mission:
We strongly believe that children best learn in a safe and respectful environment where they are actively involved in learning and continuously encouraged to become a responsible life-long learner. We are committed to providing an education of excellence that meets each student's interests, abilities and needs through a high-quality curriculum, professional teachers, a unique learning management system, and an English only policy.
