Dear Park English teachers,
How is everybody doing?
We hope you are enjoying your experience in South Korea.
Park English usually hosts a teachers' gathering every year. This year we are doing something a little different and wanted to invite you.
On Saturday, November 6th from 10am-4pm, a group of us is holding an awareness campaign for the Korean moon bears. For those of you who don't already know about this practice, there are 1, 140 moon bears in Korea that living in captivity and being farmed for their bile. It is a cruel and completely unnecessary practice, and though the government is considering a ban on bear farming, the bill has not been passed yet.
During our campaign we are hoping to get petition signatures, to pass out flyers, and to raise awareness for both foreigners and Koreans. Our main intention will be to put international pressure on our government so that they will begin to take real action.
The campaign will be held in Itaewon (Exit 1) so if you could come and stop by, sign the petition, or just be by our side, it would make a huge difference. And it would be really nice to meet you in person. We also would be open to getting support in passing out the flyers!
I hope that you can make it out, and if there's anything you need to know you can e-mail us at thebeartruthkorea@gmail.com
